New data from the United States government show the World Cup wasn’t enough to boost international arrivals for June.

Total overseas visitor arrivals were down 1.8% year-over-year to 2.8 million, following a 3.4% annual decline in June 2025. Foreign international air passenger arrivals barely budged with growth of just 0.2%, according to data released Tuesday from the National Travel and Tourism Office.

Despite the downturn, the World Cup — which was held in 11 U.S. stadiums, along with five stadiums in Mexico and Canada — appeared to bolster visitation from certain markets.
