Zendaya and her makeup artist, Ernesto Casillas , have been on an ethereal streak with the actress’s makeup for The Odyssey press tour —from Greek-goddess-inspired glow to pastel blue eyeshadow .

“Our base look will always be gorgeous, beautiful skin—super bronzer, glowy and sculpted, but for this specific press tour, we decided to have a bit of fun with color,” Casillas tells Bazaar . “Since a lot of the looks were white, we were inspired to play more with color than we usually do; sometimes that’s inspired directly by a piece of jewelry or color within the garment itself.”

But at last night’s The Odyssey premiere in New York, Casillas and Zendaya went in an opposite direction, choosing to wear no eye makeup. Instead, she channeled a very specific type of sun-kissed glow, especially since both of her looks—a nude gown and a white strapless dress with feathered wings—were on the neutral side. “We wanted the interpretation of this to be beautiful skin—sunkissed, like she’d flown too close to the sun—and very, very minimal makeup,” Casillas explains. Consider this your sign to try the no-mascara trend.

While Zendaya’s eyes were left naked (a departure from her last few press tour looks), her complexion had a lit-from-within glow, with flushed, youthful cheeks and lips. Casillas focused heavily on skin prep to “flood the skin with moisture,” starting with the Prada Beauty Balm in Universal and then mixing the Prada Beauty Augmented Skin Essence into foundation for a light veil of coverage. “To make the formula more sheer and glowy, I applied that lightly with a sponge,” he says.

To give Zendaya’s cheeks a kissed-by-the-sun color, he strategically placed two shades of Prada Beauty’s Touch Blush: Caffe, a warm mocha brown, across her cheeks, nose, and forehead, and Cherry, a true red, on the apples of the cheeks. “I brushed the color across the points of the face that the sun would kiss, including the temples and the chin,” Casillas adds. The key to creating the natural look? Working in light layers, he explains. He finished with a pink lip gloss to “give her lips a little more life.”

Zendaya has been riding the braid wave as of late for The Odyssey press tour, and this look was no exception. Hairstylist Coree Moreno created a loose, long braid with face-framing pieces. After a marathon press tour, between promoting The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day , Zendaya has been serving a bevy of beauty inspiration.
