U.S. President Donald Trump accused China on Thursday of executing the largest election data breach in history, announcing that he would declassify intelligence information revealing 'shocking vulnerabilities' in the U.S. election system.
Trump said in a speech to the nation delivered at the White House and aired on television, 'For years, starting with the 2020 election cycle, the People's Republic of China has executed what is believed to be the largest election data breach in history, leading to their illicit acquisition of files of 220 million American voters.'
The U.S. president called for broadcasting licenses to be revoked from networks that refused to air his prime-time speech about election fraud.
He implied, without evidence, that they were involved in attempts to manipulate the election. Trump stated, 'They and others in the media are part of a scheme. Such fraudulent practices should lead to the revocation of their licenses. They are using public airwaves worth billions of dollars without paying anything at all. They pay nothing,' specifically naming ABC and NBC.
Trump claims his defeat in the 2020 election was due to manipulation, although more than 60 lawsuits have not yielded any rulings to prove that, and recounts and audits have not produced anything that would change the outcome.
