Disney Store Closes "Until Further Notice" After Scalpers Become "Aggressive" While Awaiting Lorcana Release

One Disney store in London canceled the sale of the latest Lorcana release after massive crowds of fans lined up in queues that stretched for several streets outside the store, with some attendees turning to "aggressive" behavior towards others. The new Lorcana release is a major event for game enthusiasts, as the Curator’s Collection: Heroines Edition features several of Disney's most popular characters, such as Ariel, Anna, Elsa, Jasmine, Mulan, and others. Naturally, this has made the collection one of the most popular releases in the series, but the Disney store on Oxford Street in London was unprepared for the overwhelming demand. Fans from the UK shared photos on social media showing queues of players that stretched for at least four streets outside the store, about 12 hours before the doors were set to open on July 17. As launch day approached, the situation grew more chaotic. According to user DazRollsDice on X, the "scalpers and gangs" present exhibited "violent and aggressive" behavior, as they "dominated the queue and pushed themselves to the front" of the store. As a result, the Disney store in Oxford officially canceled the event and also decided to keep the store closed "until further notice". Wow. I have no words! #Lorcana London Oxford St launch cancelled due to violent, aggressive behaviour with scalpers & gangs taking over the queue & pushing to the front of the Disney Store. Sad day for the hobby. Things must change @RavensburgerUK @RavensburgerNA pic.twitter.com/9bl5JczLZz — DazRollsDice (@dazrollsdice) July 17, 2026 In a statement posted on its official account on X, the store promised to share more information on how visitors could purchase the collection "as soon as possible", thanking fans for their "patience and understanding". The Oxford Street store wasn't the only one facing a huge influx of card collectors looking to obtain the collection, as Downtown Disneyland store in California also witnessed similar queues of fans stretching throughout the park, as shown in videos posted by attendees. Disneyland Paris also did not escape this influx, as videos showed scalpers running within the park trying to get the collection. #disney #lorcana #scalpers @DisneylandParis 🤬 pic.twitter.com/wxn4m1BHuO — Shinto (@Farenti35845405) July 17, 2026 So far, Disney has not issued any statement addressing this issue, which has upset players. If there's any consolation, Lorcana is not the only card game facing the scalper phenomenon, as players of One Piece and Pokemon are also facing the same issue, with some even reselling Pokemon-inspired Pop-Tarts online for prices exceeding $25.
