Newcastle United footballer, manager, and two-time Ballon d’Or winner Kevin Keegan has placed his one-off 1990 Harley-Davidson XLH1200 Sportster up for auction at the National Motorcycle Museum later this month.
Heading under the hammer with H&H Classics on July 22, the sale starts at 10am with the special Harley finished in a distinctive Newcastle United livery and offered without reserve.
It has been agreed that a part of the bike’s sale will be donated to Cancer Research UK, with Keegan sadly announcing a stage four cancer diagnosis earlier this year.
The bike spent its early life on display at Newcastle Breweries Museum and later found a place in Kevin’s office at home. As such, it has just one mile showing on the dash.
“It’s not every day that a motorbike comes to market boasting such a rare convergence of motorcycling heritage, football history and celebrity ownership,” Senior Motorcycle Specialist at H&H Classics, Ian Cunningham said.
Alongside the Newcastle colours, the bike is distinguished by drag bars, billet levers and switchgear – plus a single saddle and a shortened rear mudguard.
H&H Classics was founded in 1993 and since then has sold a wide range of vehicles, including those owned by Charles III, Elizabeth II and Sir Elton John. Visit the H&H website for more information.
This distinctive Harley-Davidson is the perfect bike for any collector combining a love of motorcycles and footballing heritage. Not only this, but the winning bid will be generating vital funds for a hugely important cause.
