Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB) has signed a cooperation agreement with George Mason University in the United States, marking a new step in expanding academic partnerships between Iraqi and international higher education institutions.
Dr. Abbas Kadhim, President of the Foundation for Higher Education, attended the signing ceremony and said in a post on X that it was “a privilege” to witness the agreement, adding, “Congrats to Dr. Bradley Cook and the AUIB team.”
The agreement was signed by AUIB President Dr. Bradley Cook and representatives of George Mason University. The universities have not yet disclosed the specific terms of the partnership.
Cooperation agreements between universities typically establish a framework for collaboration in areas such as student and faculty exchanges, joint research, curriculum development, and academic programs.
The partnership marks another milestone in AUIB’s strategy to build lasting academic ties with world-class institutions and expand Iraq’s presence in global education. George Mason University, based in Fairfax, Virginia, is one of the largest public research universities in the U.S.
