Prefer the Guardian on Google The government has announced plans to reshape education for young people in England from the age of 14, with a greater focus on technical and vocational learning, alongside an ambition to create thousands more apprenticeships .

As part of plans to encourage more young people into apprenticeships, the work and pensions secretary, Pat McFadden, has announced a new bursary aimed at ensuring families are not financially worse off if their teenager starts an apprenticeship.

We’d like to hear from people who have completed an apprenticeship in the last few years – or are planning to go on one. What was your path to an apprenticeship? Did the apprenticeship help you develop new skills or secure a job? Did it lead to permanent employment or further opportunities? Or did you have a negative experience?
