While I’m naturally taken with woody, earthy, and even floral compositions, fruity perfumes took me a while to come around to; I didn’t realize how much range they can have. And while floral notes have long been celebrated for their versatility, fruit can be just as nuanced when placed in the hands of the right perfumer.
Earlier this year, Nordstrom beauty director Autumne West singled out fruity notes as a 2026 fragrance trend to know—predicting them to be more popular than ever. The shift, she says, comes down to how perfumers are reworking fruity notes beyond their traditionally sugary reputation. “These aren’t the nostalgic body spray styles many of us grew up with—they’re inviting, sensual blends that feel intentional and grown,” said West. “There’s a tension of juicy brightness against depth and warmth that makes these fragrances incredibly compelling.”
