Great News for Millennials: Side Parts Are Back, According to Kaia Gerber

Few hair trends are as divisive among Gen Z as the Millennial-beloved side part . But the war against side parts is officially over, thanks to Kaia Gerber, who was just seen wearing the trend.

While promoting the upcoming FX show The Shards in Berlin, Gerber walked the red carpet wearing a hairstyle circa the early aughts. Hairstylist Benjamin Talbott styled the actress’s brunette hair into a subtle side part and accessorized it with two strategically placed bobby pins to keep hair in place.

It wasn’t too long ago that Gen Z publicly claimed that side parts are “out,” with mixed takes on Reddit and TikTok claiming that no one looks good with a side part. But, as celebrity hairstylist TerraRose Puncerelli once told Bazaar, “ History repeats itself . We’re just reinventing the trends,” and it appears Gerber has put the debate to bed with her latest red-carpet side-part look.

Side parts aside, Gerber has been road-testing a few hair trends during her The Shards press tour. The actress recently dyed her hair a darker brunette color—but with a twist, keeping her roots quite dark and stark, and mid-lengths to ends a lighter brunette shade.

Gerber wasn’t the only celebrity spotted with a side part as of late. Sandra Bullock was seen at the first screening of Practical Magic 2 , where she wore her long wavy hair in a side-part style, similar to Gerber.

This leads us to think: Are side parts officially back? There’s no way to know, but we’re patiently waiting to see which celebrity cosigns the trend next.
