The company is allowing users to test new editing updates such as a speed curve function, color correction and folders.
Meta is giving creators access to new experimental video editing features via the beta tab in its Edits app. Updated features include speed ramping, color-correction adjustment and a new way to manage ongoing projects.
In a press release seen by SMT, Meta outlined how users can access the beta tab, which launched in June .
As explained by Meta: “The Beta tab is a dedicated section in Edits where upcoming features are available for early testing. Features are off by default; creators can choose to toggle them on, try them out, and shake their phone to send feedback. It's how we build Edits alongside creators, giving them agency to shape the app into what will work best for them.”
New beta tab features on iOS include speed curves, which will enable “precise, dynamic speed ramping along a customizable curve,” Meta said.
Meta added that this has been one of its more requested video editing features, especially for short-form video creators.
Meta is also trying out one-tap color correction, which will automatically optimize exposure, contrast and tone in video projects.
The company is also testing folders on both iOS and Android that will provide another way for creators to manage multiple projects at once by saving them into separate areas in the app.
“Long-press to enter Organize mode and drag-and-drop your drafts into folders, making Edits feel like your own creative studio,” Meta said.
Finally, Meta is bringing adjustable layers to Android users. This will help creators maintain uniformity in presentation throughout their projects.
Meta added the adjustable layers editing tools on iOS in November .
The beta tab gives creators access to all of these features in test mode, so that they can get a sense of what’s coming.
The beta function also gives Meta a means to gather more feedback from its users as it looks to refine and improve the Edits experience.
