Iraqi PM appoints Ali Alwan as chairman of Trade Bank of Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi appointed on Tuesday Ali Alwan as Director of the Trade Bank of Iraq (TBI) and Bilal al-Hamdani as Executive Director of the Iraq Development Fund.

The TBI is a banking institution that handles around 80 percent of the trade financing activity in the country.

The newly appointed executive director of the Iraq Development Fund formerly led the TBI.

TBI media adviser Aqeel al-Shuwaili told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that the recent leadership changes are designed to enhance efficiency. The goal is to strengthen the operational capabilities and management oversight of Iraq’s key financial and development institutions.

The reshuffle is meant to accelerate economic development by supporting the Prime Minister’s overall plans for administrative transformation and modernization.

The move is also intended to boost economic growth by speeding up the implementation of large-scale domestic infrastructure and private-sector investment plans overseen by the Iraq Development Fund.
