"Women's World Cup Qualifiers": Wales beats Czech Republic and tops their group

Wales came from behind to win 3-1 against their visitors, the Czech Republic, in Cardiff, securing the top spot in their group for the Women's World Cup qualifying.

Lily Woodham, Gemma Evans, and Mary Griffith scored the hat trick for Wales, overcoming a defensive error that allowed the visitors to take an early lead with an early goal from Michaela Krhová in the fifth minute.

Topping Group B not only guarantees promotion but also provides an easier path in the playoffs and avoids facing a top-ranked team in the semifinals in October.

The match started at a modest pace when a ball rebounded off goalkeeper Olivie Lukasova and reached Krhová, who was given the chance to score after the collision between Ryan Roberts and Evans.

However, the visitors' lead lasted only four minutes as Siri Holland took a throw-in from the right side, and the ball crossed to Sophie Engel, who scored the equalizer in her 50th cap for Wales.

Immediately after the second half began, Holland took a free kick that Evans received six yards from goal and headed the ball over the advanced goalkeeper into the empty net.

Holland capped her performance with a run down the right side, where she passed Barbora Polkarova to deliver a cross to Griffith, who easily scored into the net.
