As we enjoy the last few days of summer before the kids head back to school and the early morning routine kicks in, there’s still time to celebrate the season with a light refreshing white wine and a very tasty sparkling wine.
Most inexpensive pinot grigio is watery at best and horribly confected at its worst. I have always thought the Aldi Specially Selected version was good, better than the three other less expensive pinot grigios that they offer and worth the extra few euro.
Crémant is French sparkling wine made by the same method as Champagne but outside the Champagne region. Some can be very good. The Aldi Veuve Monsigny Champagne is superior to its Crémant but it does cost €7 more.
Light, refreshing, zesty pear fruits with a nicely rounded finish. Enjoy by itself, with the last of the summer salads, or lighter fish dishes.
This has plenty of pear and apple fruits, good crisp acidity and a smooth finish. Perfect for that mini-celebration, or with snacks before dinner.
