Marriott has given sales teams a year-end stretch goal of $1.55 billion for group bookings for next year at the hotels it manages in the U.S. and Canada. Its global 2027 group sales look "flattish." Other companies are more upbeat.

Marriott is pushing group sales teams at hotels it manages in the U.S. and Canada to close a "$1.55 billion in group revenue gap to goal for 2027," according to internal material seen by Skift.

The message was part of a slide presentation shown this month to a property-level team at a Marriott-managed hotel. Team members were given incentives to help meet the $1.55 billion target set for December 31.

Two other Marriott employees in other regions said they saw similar messaging in team meetings in the past two weeks.

One Marriott employee noted that sales goals often reflect a stretch effort above corporate forecasts.

The push tracks with comments this month from Marriott's chief financial officer, who described the pace of 2027 group bookings as "flattish" during the company’s second-quarter earnings call. It also contrasts with more upbeat assessments of next year from Hyatt and several hotel owner-operators.
