Goodwood Motor Circuit will erupt with the sound of vintage cars and motorcycles later this month, as some of the world’s best racers descend on the venue for the annual Revival meeting .
Running from September 18-20, the Goodwood Revival hosts a number of historic races every year, including the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy – which sees a range of motorcycles produced between 1948 and 1966 compete in two 25-minute, two-rider races – with an aggregate result deciding the overall winner.
This year, a number of stars from the road racing, British and World Superbike paddocks are set to line-up on the grid – including three-time WSBK champion Troy Bayliss aboard a Norton Manx, and 36-time Isle of Man TT winner, Michael Dunlop who will also be riding a Norton.
Joining them will be former World Superbike champion Tom Sykes, plus Grand Prix winners Jeremy McWilliams, and Marco Melandri.
They will line up with TT stars John McGuinness , Ian Hutchinson , Peter Hickman , Davey Todd , and Ben Birchall – with Conor Cummins, Ian Simpson, Iain Duffus, and Eugene Laverty also making the line-up.
The current crop of British Superbike stars will not be present at this year’s meeting, with the championship round at Assen in the Netherlands over the same weekend for the beginning of The Showdown rounds.
Motorcycles have been a part of the Revival weekend since 1998. Previously known as the Lennox Cup, the race was renamed as the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy following the two-time 500 Grand Prix title-winner’s untimely death in 2003.
